A Study of the Relationship Among Multidimensional Health Locus of Control, Self-Esteem and Health Protective Behaviors

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was done to find out the relationship to Health Locus of Control, Self-Es*teem and Health Protective Behaviors.
The subjects of the study were 273 female nursing students in junior nursing college and the data through questionaires were collected frome June 10 to June 21 in 1991.
Used questionaires were Wallstone & Wallstone´s MHLC, Rosenberg´s Self-Esteem and Harris´s Practice of Health Protective Behaviors.
Analysis of the data was done by using descriptive statistics, Pearson´s correlation, ANOVA.
The results of the study are as follows:
1. In "There was relationship between each of the MHLC and the practice of health protective behavior".
1) "The higher the HLC-internalis, the higher the rate of health protective behavior practiceis". was accepted.
2) "The higher the HLC-externalis, the higher the rate of health protective behavior practiceis". was accepted.
3) "The higher the HLC-chanceis, the higher the rate of health protective behavior practiceis" was not accepted.
2. "The higher the self-esteem, the higher the rate of health protective behavior practice". was accepted.
3. In "There was relationship between MHLC and selfesteem". The higher HLC-internal and HLC-externaiis, the higher self-esteemis.
